NO Creature Comforts here, folks... This is enjoying the great outdoors at it's best! We just returned from attending the June, 2004 GPAA/LDMA Italian Bar Outing! So many fun moments, good food and great people! Here are some of our favorite "Highlights" from this Outing... Open only to LDMA members, Italian Bar offers a number of prime camping sites suitable for tents, pop-ups, and camper trailers. A truly beautiful site! However, we don't recommend that anyone consider taking a primo 5th wheel or very large Motorhome to this claim! The road is a bit rough and... Well, a picture is worth a thousand words. right? Yes, those little slivers of gravel showing in picture #1 & #3 are definitely the road to LDMA's Italian Bar Claim! ...and the middle picture shows the creek that is w-a-a-a-y down in the bottom of the canyon - as viewed from the road above. Just thought you'd like to know.... Located on the South Fork of the Stanislaus River, Italian Bar claim site has a dedicated caretaker crew that maintains the grounds and buildings with loving care.
If you are a member of LDMA, why not sign up for the next 2004 Outing (scheduled for early October)? If you are NOT a member of LDMA, you should seriously consider joining so you can join in on the fun and spend time in this beautiful part of the California Mother Lode!
